A special thanks to all the customers who provided feedback to us during this development project. On December 1st, 2015 we will be releasing an update to RiskTool that includes a system-wide dashboard as well as new dashboards for Training, Policies, Inspection Checklists and Best Practice Assessments. These dashboards are available to any user with permission to manage task assignments for these materials.

General Navigation

There are several new icons available in the new left hand side navigation bar. This bar can be extended or condensed using the arrow at the bottom of the bar.

In addition to the new icons we have removed several of the icons as well. There is no longer a general “compliance” option. We have split out Policies, Inspection Checklists and Best Practice Assessments to be their own navigation elements. Our navigational icons are explained below:

The speedometer icon represents “My Dashboard.” By clicking this icon you will be brought back to the main dashboard where you can view the status of all of your tasks across the system.

The rocketship icon represents “My Tasks.” This is the landing page for all general users who will be completing tasks (not assigning them). The number indicates how many open tasks are available for action.

The graduation cap icon represents “Training.” Clicking this icon will bring you to the new training dashboard, where the same donut graph will represent the status of each user in the system relative to their training task progress.

The bullet list icon represents “Policies.” Clicking this icon will bring you to the new policies dashboard, where the same donut graph will represent the status of each user in the system relative to their policy task progress.

The clipboard icon represents “Inspection Checklist.” Clicking this icon will bring you to the new checklists dashboard, where the same donut graph will represent the status of each user in the system relative to their checklist task progress.

The blue ribbon icon represents “Assessments.” Clicking this icon will bring you to the new assessments dashboard, where the same donut graph will represent the status of each user in the system relative to their assessment task progress.

The graph icon represents “Reporting.” Clicking this icon will allow you to engage with additional system reports regarding usage and activity within your system.

The bookshelf icon represents “Resources.” Clicking this icon will bring you to the system-provided resource materials and references.

My Dashboard

With the new dashboards, administrators and managers can quickly obtain a glimpse of where the organization stands in relation to the tasks that have been assigned to their users. With a single click, users who have overdue tasks or have failed a task can be identified.

The reporting on the dashboard is based on your users’ overall task status. Each User can be a member of only one of the following categories:

  • Failed (Red) - User has at least one task they have failed
  • 6 Months Overdue (Orange) - User has at least one task 6 months overdue
  • 3-6 Months Overdue (Yellow) - User has at least one task 3-6 months overdue
  • Current (Light Blue) - User is no more than 3 months overdue for any task
  • Passed (Dark Blue) - User has passed all of their tasks
  • No Activity (Grey) - There are no assigned tasks in this material

Scrolling over each color provides a tooltip that indicates the % of users and total number of users who fall into this category. A user’s category is determined by the assigned task(s) most overdue or in need of attention. For example, if user James Brown has nine “passed” tasks and one that is 6 months overdue, he will be listed in the orange category indicating 6 months overdue. Once he passes that task, he would be updated to the dark blue passed category.

Clicking on the icon in the middle of the donut graph will navigate you to that material’s dashboard. The graph displayed will be the same information as what is shown on My Dashboard, and no filters will be applied.

My Tasks

The My Tasks listing is the users to-do list in the system. These are the Training, Policy, Inspection Checklists and Best Practice Assessment tasks that need to be completed. For general users whose primary role is to perform tasks, this will be their landing page and dashboard. Administrative users and managers will need to navigate to this space to see what tasks they have assigned to themselves.

Material Dashboards

Navigating to a material dashboard (Training, Policy, Inspection Checklists and Best Practice Assessments) is achieved by either selecting the icon on the left hand navigation, the icon within the donut on the main dashboard, or a filter from the donut on the main dashboard.

Once on the material dashboard, additional filtering and searching of the list and graph can be achieved. Searching or filtering is achieved in three ways:

  • Filtering based on User Category - Selecting a color of the graph will filter the list to only show users who fall within that category. A “reset” button will appear when a filter is applied. This reset feature will only apply to the user category filter.
  • Filtering based on Material - Below the donut graph is a drop-down menu of all the titles contained within the material. Selecting one of these titles will filter the list to show only users who have been assigned a task for that title. Selecting “all” or another title will change your results.
  • Searching based on User - Above the user list is a search box. This allows you to hone in on a specific user while also taking into consideration any of the filters (status, title) that have been applied. To return to the list of all users, simply remove the text in the search box and click “search” again to reset the list.

Below is an example of the Training Dashboard when user category and course filter are applied.

By selecting a user from the filtered/searched, list you will be brought directly to that user's profile, where you can review their task status in more detail.

To manage your task assignments, titles and content via the catalog click the “Go To Training (Policy, Checklist, Assessment, etc.) Administration” link in the top right-hand corner. The same options you’ve had in the past are available here for managing your organization's content and obtaining status and reporting on task assignments.

Future Updates

While this release is focused on the RiskTool dashboards, our future releases will focus on some new functionality to assist with managing incident response and vendors. We would like to thank all the customers who contributed to this most recent wave of development and look forward to engaging customers in the future on new functionality and improvements.
